Ingress XM Anomalies are FREE city based Ingress events hosted by Niantic and supported for the Resistance agents by our wonderful local organizing teams. The anomaly event is always on Saturday with optional connected events, such as a usual Mission Day event on Sunday and occasional GORUCK challenges & NL1331 visits.
The anomaly runs from 2–5pm local time with a Resistance afterparty at the end.
The actual gameplay challenges change between anomaly series, but typically consist of a battle for control of selected portals, a struggle to get movable ornaments (Shards) to the Resistance target portals, creating a longest link chain, achieving most unique portal visits and more…
Anyone! If you are an Ingress Resistance agent, you can join us! Whether you are an experienced anomaly veteran or a new agent who is just finding out how Ingress works, there is a place for you at the anomaly!
The Resistance organizers are putting a lot of effort to make sure every need is reflected, there are invaluable assignments for both fast and slow moving or even static teams!
However fast you can move, you are a very important agent to us!
Ingress is full of agents who are happy to share their Anomaly experience with you! Let us know when you join the chats and we can give you an overview of what the Anomaly will be like. We’ll also place you in a team for Anomaly day so you’ll have a group of agents to work with during the event.
When the ruleset is announced, we’ll share that too so you can become familiar with it before the event!
Yes! Jersey City will be hosting GORUCK Stealth Ops, GORUCK Urban Ops, and Operation Clear Field.
Never heard of GORUCK before? It’s a teambuilding and endurance challenge based on special operations training. Perfect for agents who want to challenge themselves both physically and mentally, participants take place in a series of team and individual challenges that pit Resistance agents against Enlightened agents and the winning team gets an advantage that helps during the anomaly.

Yes! Join us on Sunday, May 31st to explore Jersey City on Mission Day.
Mission Day is a cross-faction event where agents can complete official Niantic-created missions and receive a Mission Day badge (or a tick on their Mission Day badge) in the scanner. Many agents will also use the day to complete agent-created mission banners too, or just hang out with friends and explore the city.
More details on Mission Day meetups will be announced closer to the event.
Why Jersey City?
A beautiful and historic city, Jersey City sits across the Hudson River from the iconic Manhattan skyline, making it a perfect spot for both an Ingress Anomaly and a weekend vacation.
As the third largest city in the state and close to many transit hubs, Jersey City offers great food, beautiful scenery, and lots to do.
Oh yeah, and don’t worry about hills on Anomaly day – it’s pretty flat!
